Franek Finds the F1s for Fish'O'Final

The fifth round of Fish’O’Mania XXV qualifying made its way northwards to the ever popular Lindholme lakes which has recently been re-sculpted to improve the fishing and so it proved! The Match was the closest affair to date and 70lb needed to take home any section monies.

The 134 anglers were finally greeted by some warmer weather with bright sunshine across most the match, this in turn got some of the fish shallow and saw pellet and caster approaches dominate.

First on the day, and qualifying for the final in July, was Fish’O regular Franek Staniuszko. The Maver backed angler was fortunate enough to draw on corner peg 1 on Bennys, and made the most of it with 155lb 1oz. Franek caught F1s to 3lb on banded 6mm pellet and fed his way through a good quantity of 4mms.

In an incredibly close second place was the angler to Frank’s right on Bennys 60, Wayne Kearney. The Tri-Cast backed angler was just 1oz short with bang on 155lb! Wayne also fished pellet short and managed a few proper carp to 6lb along with his F1s.

Rounding out the top three was Rotherham builder, Nick Smith. Nick was also on the favoured lake of the day Bennys and drew on peg 3. Nick had a very busy match taking F1s shallow to 1lb 8oz for his 141lb 7oz and commented afterwards that he was ‘gutted he didn’t pick up any bonus fish’. Nick fished caster shallow across a short and long line, putting in three pints by the end of the five hours.

A huge thanks to Neil and his team at Lindholme for hosting another quality qualifier and to Mike Storey for running it. Round six of the qualifiers is at Woodland View fishery, where a few tickets will be available on spec on the day. The next bookable qualifier is at Tunnel Barn Farm on Wed 25thApril.
