The eleventh round of Fish’O’Mania qualification was held at the ever popular Larford
Lakes, which boasted yet another SELLOUT and saw 110 anglers competing for the place in the final. However, the conditions didn’t play ball, with almost freezing overnight temperatures and a strong wind for the anglers to battle against.
With such varied fishing on the cards at Larford the talk at the draw was that the Burr bank of the Match lake was the place to be, and specifically pegs in 30’s had got some current form. This proved to be the case with four 100lb plus weights coming from this area.
Stand out winner by some margin was Ben Emery from peg 36 on Match lake. Ben’s tactics were very simple; strong gear down his margins, on big corn hookbaits to tempt carp to 12lb. He landed around 25 big carp for his 198lb 7oz and got through four tins in the process! Ben Commented ‘I haven’t been here for years, but managed to qualify for the Final last time as well’
There was then a close battle for second, which Prezmek Solski ended up the winner of, from peg 63 on Specimen Lake. Prezmek focused most of his attention on the method feeder, landing a series of carp to 12lb and crucially weighing in 126lb 14oz.
This beat out young gun Jordan Holloway, who also drew on the Burr bank, with Match lake peg 40 his home. Jord fished down his edges on pellet to take carp to 8lb and post an agonising 126lb 6ozs.

We move Eastwards for the next qualifier at Weston Pools, which is already a near Sellout! It’s worth noting; as always, we close the tickets on a Monday, or a Wednesday before a match at 15:30, so make sure you visit the booking site to guarantee a ticket.
