Dave Romain Is First FishO Qualifier

The first Fish‘O’Mania qualifier of 2018 took place at Viaduct Fishery on Wednesday, with Dave Romain coming out on top in a field of 116 anglers.

Romain put his local knowledge of the venue to good use from peg 77 on Cary. Staying on the pole for the match Dave took carp to 16lbs as part of his winning weight of 191 lbs.

“I am over the moon, absolutely buzzing,” said Romain. “It is the best thing in match fishing to get through to the Fish’O’Mania Grand Final. It is great to win at Viaduct – I can see this fishery from my house. It’s off to Hayfield now!”

Lee Edwards drew peg 85, also on Cary. Working on the bomb and pole Lee took carp to 20lbs as part of his catch of 145 lbs for second place. Adam Mitchell, a quantity surveyor, drew Campbell peg 129 to take third position with 137lbs 04ozs, again, on bomb and pole.

Scott Puddy, a builder from Glastonbury, fished the pole and bomb with meat, taking fish to 18 lbs for fourth place with 118 lbs. Ashley Reeves took fifth place with 106 lbs. Keith Arthur and the team from Fish’O’Mania – The Qualifiers were at Viaduct filming the first episode of the new series, which airs on Sky Sports Action at 4pm and 7pm on Friday, March 23.
