Brindley Books Ticket To Final

Fish’O’Mania’s fifteenth qualifier made its way south to the marvellous Makins Fishery. This qualifier using lakes on both Phases 1 and 2 promised so much, but once again massive changes in the weather, combined with the fish still in a spawning mood, suppressed catches.

On the day an almost wintry wind just made things all the more difficult for the majority. That said, there were a fair number of really good weights spread across the whole complex.

It was local Nuneaton -based angler, Steve Brindley, fishing peg 39 on Lake 5 who sorted out a run of quality fish to 6lbs, fishing banded 6mm pellets short who took top honours with 120lbs 12ozs.

In second spot was Ian Fisk from Burnley who put an impressive 105 lbs 1oz on the scales at peg 16 on Lizard Pool. Ian also fished 6mm pellet and caught fish to 9lbs.

Andy Power, having made the long trek from Somerset, captured third with 102lb 12oz from peg 29 also on Lizard. Andy took carp to 11lbs fishing shallow with banded pellet on long pole then later took more fish short and down the edge on meat.

Warren Martin put the fourth ton weight on the scales at peg 34 on Lake 5 weighing 101lbs 2oz and Sam Brown took fish to 10lbs from peg 25 on Lake 4 to total 84lbs 12ozs.

The Angling Trust would like to thank Alan McDiarmid and all his team for being such good hosts and David Kent for running yet another exemplary qualifier.

We move westwards for the next qualifier at Tunnel Barn Farm. It’s worth noting; as always we close the tickets on Wednesday before a match at 15:30, so make sure you visit the booking site to guarantee a ticket.
