Andy storms through to Fish O Final

Fish’O’Mania XXV made its way to the popular Yorkshire bagging venue, The Oaks Lakes in Sessay. With hot and humid conditions setting in competitors did have concerns that the fish might be off the feed, however they needn’t have been worried as four anglers broke through the magical double ton!

It was Andrew Dargue, who was fishing his first qualifier for over ten years, that took the match. Drawing peg 19 on the favoured Ash lake, Andy went about making the most of the hungry carp in front of him. Paste and pellets short were his favoured tactics and Andy amassed an outstanding 263lb 6oz in the five hours.

The runner up was Ben Fisk who was ‘gutted’ upon reflection of his second spot on the day. Drawing next to Andy on Ash lake, peg 21, the pair were fish for fish for much of the match. Although at the all important scales Ben’s nets were slightly lighter with 229lb 12oz. Tactics for Ben were meat at four metres and a short spell on paste down the edge.

Rounding out the top three was Phillip Sellers who was top rod on Sycamore lake with 215lb 8ozs. Phillip took carp to 3lbs on paste hook baits and loose fed pellets to keep the carp interested.

Our thanks to Tom Kay and the team at The Oaks Fishery for a very well received qualifier and to Danny Williams upon his maiden hosting of a qualifier. Anglers are reminded that opportunities are running out to get into the final and that tickets can be purchased HERE.
